Principal's Message

Dear Parents and carers,

On Friday our students participated in a workshop about relationships in our community much of the focus was on how we treat each others. RESPECT and KINDNESS are two of our values and we often forget that these are areas that we need to teach every day so our young people are tolerant of others.

In talking to many of our carers and parents we know many are concerned about poor choices of language, inappropriate use of social media and some isolated bullying.  At this time we are releasing our teachers to review our curriculum content, within this work we are discussing the importance of our students social and emotional development along side learner dispositions. At home it is worth asking your child "Who were you kind to today?" and "Who was kind to you?" Research in the adult population is now high lighting how important it is to reflect on the positives throughout the day and as such engaging in regular conversation is important.

Kind Regards,

Rosie Gilsenan-Reed

Governing Council

We welcome families to join our Governing Council.

Being a member of Governing Council asks that you are available for 2 meetings per term (8 meetings over the year). In your role on a Governing Council, you will work with the site leader to:

  • Involve the local community
  • Develop and improve local policies
  • Assist the direction and vision of the school

We appreciate how busy life is for many families, however a school can not function without a Governing Council.

We currently have a vacancy for our Secretary, our next meeting is on Wednesday 29th November at 2pm the agenda items include the draft budget for 2024, the constitution set down by the Department and materials and services charges, which are essential for our work in 2024.

Swimming JP

In week 4 the junior primary years went swimming at Gawler Pool. We  went in a bus to swimming and we got to sit with who ever we wanted to sit with. I learned how lay on my back and how to lay on my belly in the pool. On the last day we played a game with everybody in room 19 and room 14 and it was fun.

On the last day we got ice cream because we were good at swimming. By Hannah Chomik

Last week swimming was really because we got to swim at Gawler Pool. I was in the shark group and we got to go in the big pool. My fa oh rite thing about swimming week was doing the starfish, where you float on your back and put your arms above your head. By Lucy Urkko-Wood

Room 18 Student Comments

This week I got a award for moving up to a level 5 decodable reader. Every night I mostly read my decodable reader with dad. Our decodable readers allow us to use our sound knowledge and sigh word knowledge to read with our favourite F word - FLUENCY! By Summer Edey

This week I got an award for using multiple reading strategies when reading my library books. I have been practicing sounding out my words and stretching words to make them easier to blend together. I have just started easing the Bad Guys series and they are cool and funny. By Rhys Leo Bartlett

This week we have been learning about collecting data in Maths. On Tuesday we made a graph as a class, using the data we collected from the peas in our school garden. We each got a pea and we graphed how many beans were in each pea. On Wednesday we each had to think of a question that we could answer using the data we collected from a box of Smarties. My question was “are there more green Smarties than blue Smarties?” From the data I collected, I can tell you there were more green Smarties because there were no blue Smarties in my box! By Mercury Edwards.

This week I have been spending lots of my play time in the garden on the oval. On Tuesday I brought in a tomato plant from home and Gordon helped me to plant it. I am so excited for it to grow tomatoes! By Maddison Stark

Thank You

Two Wells Primary School would like to say a massive thank you to the local IGA, Farm Fresh and Brett for all their fruit donations. These fruits are able to give our students a good start to the day through breakfast club or we have also used them as healhty snack options during the day.
